# Pricing - Outshine for Mac

Outshine for Mac is a small menu-bar app that makes a MacBook screen readable in
the sun. Prices in US dollars. Last updated: 2026-10-31.

## Price

- **$9.99 in early access**, then **$14.99** regular. A third off while early access lasts.
- One-time purchase. No subscription, no monthly or yearly fee.
- Updates are free.
- One licence activates one Mac. Moving to a new Mac: "Deactivate this Mac" in the app, then activate on the new one.

## Try before you pay

- Without a licence, Outshine works on the left half of the screen (split-screen), with no time limit, so you can compare in your own light before buying.
- "Unlock" in the app opens https://www.getoutshine.com/unlock.

## Buying

- Sold on getoutshine.com through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record (payment, receipt, sales tax).
- Not on the Mac App Store. The app is a DMG download from https://www.getoutshine.com/download, signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
- Refunds: no fixed refund window. If Outshine doesn't work as expected on your Mac, contact us first; if it can't be fixed, a refund is considered case by case. Policy: https://www.getoutshine.com/refund-policy

## What you get

- Four presets: **Reading** (gentlest lift; white pages and backgrounds brighter, text left alone), **Outdoor** (the everyday setting for sun), **Blazing** (the maximum the display allows), **Dark** (light apps turned dark with bright text). One intensity slider.
- Keyboard shortcuts: Option-Command-O toggles Outshine; Option-Command-Up/Down change intensity.
- No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting.

## Requirements

- macOS 13 Ventura or later. Apple Silicon and Intel.
- Works on one display at a time: the first one with extra (EDR) brightness. A normal (SDR) external monitor gets no boost.
- Biggest effect on a MacBook Pro with a Liquid Retina XDR display. Also runs on MacBook Air, where the lift is smaller.

## What it doesn't do

- It doesn't remove reflections on the glass. Screen angle, a hood, a matte film or Apple's nano-texture display do that; Outshine adds brightness and readability.
- It can't make a display brighter than the display and macOS allow.
